The first Prestressed Concrete Bridge in the USA was completed in 1950 at Philadelphia, Walnut Lane Bridge. Since then, the industry & needs of the project has evolved a lot. There is a lot of irregular geometry in the bridges & the sections that are used. This session is designed by considering these points where the focus would be on tendon prestressing & their losses, irregular geometry/sections, Live load analysis & Design as per AASHTO LRFD.
Load rating is another important aspect of the bridge industry in the USA. There are 8,000 bridges on the state system and 5,000 off-system bridges owned by various entities, and each bridge must be evaluated and monitored on a regular basis in order to be in compliance with Title 23 of the US Code. So in the session, we’ll also perform load rating & talk about salient features of the same.
At the end of this session, engineers will also have the opportunity to ask questions, whether it be about the process or the software itself. We will offer PDH certification for engineers who attend the entire session. This is a perfect opportunity to level up your engineering skills!
