Expert Webinar: Load Rating of Wittpenn Vertical Lift Bridge

This presentation covers all the main aspects of the load rating of the superstructure of the Wittpenn Bridge. This Bridge, which is located on NJ Route 7, crosses the Hackensack River between Jersey City and Kearney, and features a vertical lift main span of orthotropic steel box girder superstructure. We present the load rating using LFR and LRFR inventory and operating methodologies for the bridge main components. However, we emphasize the fatigue load rating of the orthotropic deck, which requires very detailed FEM analysis to deal with stress concentrations and the evaluation of the stress range under combined stresses.
