Summary The suction piles, commonly used as part of deep marine foundations, are fixed to the bottom of the sea by the suction created after pumping out the water from inside the pile. This tutorial will cover the modeling and analysis of a suction pile under different conditions of lateral loads in 3D. The training will focus on a steel pile fixed in undrained clay under various lateral loads caused by an anchor chain. In conclusion, we will show a direct comparison of results, as well as key differences, with an example created in Plaxis.
