Midas offers various features to help in-house structural contractor.

By integrating constructability into the design, you can save time and money

from on-site-issues. You can easily generate multiple construction stage models

reflecting deck pouring and concrete material. Flexible modeling can handle

any temporary structures, scaffolding, and partial bridges during constuction.

It is fast, flexible and reliable!

Bridge Design Software

Construction Stage

Create accurate construction-staged bridges in a single model file with ease. Modeling wizards generate multiple bridge models for each phase of the construction. It is essential to consider partial structures and temporary structures with time-dependent material. Midas Civil bridge model represents the structure in different construction stages to see the actual member force/stress and the impact of various construction activities throughout the process.

Flexible Modeling

Bridge Design Software

Flexible Modeling

Flexible modeling method on midas civil help you create any temporary structures needed for the construction. You can create model using Nodes that are defined using their specific coordinates, elements are created based on nodal connectivity, and cross-sectional properties are defined on the elements to simulate section stiffness. All geometries can be represented by tabular nodal coordinates. The tabulated nodal coordinates share the dynamic link with the geometry, meaning changing in one will automatically update the other. The tabular coordinates are also compatible with MS Excel.

In addition to the flexible modeling features, you can also boost modeling efficiency by using the built-in modeling wizards for all types of bridges. Suppose you need to put up a whole bridge to modify or put additional construction structures. In that case, you can also make modifications and alterations to the model generated using the wizard.

Time-Dependent Material

midas Civil can consider time-dependent characteristics of concrete such as creep, shrinkage, and aging for each construction stage. You can define the location of deck pouring to activate or deactivate wet concrete load. Each set can be divided into sub-steps to consider the detail stage for progress.

Bridge Design Code

Use updated design codes (AASHTO and CHBDC CSA) to perform bridge and temporary structure design. midas civil provides a detailed calculation process according to the codebook reference. User can quickly identify the issue and resolve. midas civil can export design report can be exported in excel format.

Hudson Yards East End Access & Harlem River Lift Bridge Challenges
This webinar discussed the methods used for seismic analysis, demand and capacity evaluation using a three dimensional mode. The model incorporated soil-structure interaction and generation of moment-curvature curve.
Time-Dependent Materials for Construction Stage Analysis in midas Civil
In this Midas Workshop Session, our Expert Engineer, Benjamin Blasen from Jacobs shared his knowledge and experience on Time-Dependent Material for Construction Stage Analysis in midas Civil.
Constructability of Curved Steel Tub Girders
Seth Greenberg, P.E. from Jacobs, presented the lesson about Constructability of Curved Steel Tub Girders. Tub girders had the complex geometry which was difficult to fabricate. Engineers determined to use tub girders due to its higher torsional rigidity.

Nodes and Elements
There are so many ways to help you save your time when you are working on your bridge project. One of the easy tips is renumbering of the nodes and elements. Our Expert Engineer Tom Less, P.E., a Senior Associate, Team Leader & Bridge/Structural Engineer from Woolpert shared his tips for nodes and elements.
Query Tools, MCT Command Shell, Frame & Plane Thickness
Midas Civil has so many features that can help you to work efficiently in your project. Our Expert Engineer Benjamin Blasen from Jacobs shared his quick tips in Midas Civil. The tips/tricks he has found very useful are the Query tools, using the MCT command shell, and turning on the display of frame and plane thicknesses in the Hidden Option Display menu.
Composite Bridge Modeling Tips
In this scenario, the software considers the composite section as a lump section that incorporates both the girder section and the deck section. This means that the composite action is transformed into equivalent section properties in midas Civil.
